Please read the information below which provides information on the Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate this funding at Holy Trinity Church of England Primary School.
What is the Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium is additional funding that is made available by the government. Its purpose is to assist with raising the attainment of pupils who are considered to be disadvantaged and to assist schools in closing the academic gap between them and their peers. Nationally, there is a significant gap between the attainment of those pupils from deprived backgrounds and other groups. In order to close this gap, the government introduced the Pupil Premium in April 2011.
Which children are eligible for the Pupil Premium?
- Those pupils eligible for this funding have to meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Pupils who are currently in receipt of Free School Meals
- Pupils who have been in receipt of Free School Meals at any point during the last six years
- Pupils who have at least one parent currently serving in the British Armed Forces
- Pupils who have been in receipt of care from a Local Authority
If you believe your child may be eligible for the Pupil Premium Grant then please contact the school office to discuss this further.
A research-led approach to Pupil Premium at Holy Trinity
At Holy Trinity Church of England Primary School, we utilise the latest academic research on how to improve outcomes for pupils who may be considered disadvantaged. There are three primary areas which have been proven to support pupils to improve attainment and wellbeing. These are:
- Quality First Teaching
- Targeted Academic Support
- Wider pastoral strategies
These strategies underpin our approach to supporting disadvantaged pupils at Holy Trinity and we are motivated to ensure that they are provided with the equitable support they may need to flourish.
